Improving birth experiences by providing compassionate, culturally sensitive, trauma-informed birth and post-partum doula support

Michelle Henderson
why a doula?
A doula is a trained birth worker who provides continuous physical, emotional educational and psychological support to a birthing person/couple before, during and after childbirth.
As your doula, I provide warm companionship, create trust and a non-judgmental supportive space to help you manifest the pregnancy and delivery you desire. Birth advocacy, ancestral tradition and mindfulness are the key tenets of my work. I was born in Belize and have an extremely deep reverence for my Afro-Caribbean ancestry.
For the past three years, I have worked with pregnant youth and those who have experienced sex trafficking and intimate partner violence. I have seen first-hand how detrimental a lack of trauma-informed care can be to people in the birth and postpartum space and how it widens birth disparities in the communities I serve. I dedicate my time and energy to improving birth outcomes for all people including underserved, underestimated and at-risk clients.
It is truly an honor to walk with you on your birth journey and to hold sacred space for you and baby.
